Provincial New Energy & Green Low-Carbon Industry Task Force Conducts On-Site Inspection at Debo Bioenergy to Guide Biochar-Syngas Co-Production and Hydrogen Production through Gasifcation Technology Demonstration Projects
To thoroughly implement the national "Dual Carbon" strategic framework, accelerate the quality improvement and capacity expansion of Anhui Province's new energy and green low-carbon industries, and gain precise insights into the industrialization of biomass resource utilization technologies, a special joint inspection team recently visited the Debo Yongfeng Project Base of Hefei Debo Bioenergy Technology Co., Ltd. Led by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Anhui Province, the team comprised representatives from the Office of the Provincial Promotion Group for New Energy and Green Low-Carbon Industries, the Anhui Provincial Academy of Environmental Sciences, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Hefei City, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Tongling City and the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Tongling City. The delegation conducted an in-depth field survey focused on the construction and operation of the Biochar-Synas Co-Production Base and the Biomass Gasification for Hydrogen Production Demonstration Base. Executive leaders and technical experts from Anhui Molyfor Regenerative Resources Co., Ltd. joined the survey, while Zhang Shoujun, Chairman of Hefei Debo, accompanied the delegation throughout the visit and delivered on-site briefings.
Equipped with protective safety gear, the inspection team advanced to the production front line, visiting key functional areas including the Feedstock Storage Area, the Biochar-Syngas Co-Production Complete Equipment Workshop, the Core Biomass Hydrogen Generation Unit, and the Central Control Room. The team observed up close the operational conditions of the complete thermochemical conversion equipment, the automated control systems, and the supporting environmental protection facilities. On site, Chairman Zhang Shoujun provided a comprehensive briefing on Debo's core technological framework, systematically introducing the process principles and full-process operational models of the integrated biomass gasification poly-generation equipment. He detailed the complete resource-utilization pathway for transforming agricultural and forestry waste into high-value assets: taking agricultural and forestry residues—such as straw, sawdust, and fruit tree pruning branches—as feedstocks, the system concurrently yields green hydrogen, syngas, and high-value-added biochar through a coupled process of low-temperature pyrolysis, high-temperature gasification, and catalytic reforming. This approach achieves the synergistic co-production of syngas, biochar, and heat, seamlessly integrating the complete value chain of non -hazardous disposal, resource recovery, and low-carbon production of agricultural and forestry waste.
Addressing the two core technical routes of prime interest to the inspection team—biomass biochar-syngas co-production and biomass hydrogen generation—Zhang Shoujun presented actual project operational data to compare and analyze technical advantages and diversified application scenarios. He also objectively reviewed current industry bottlenecks, such as feedstock collection, storage, and transportation costs, industrial supply chain integration, and policy implementation challenges, while providing point-by-point answers to queries regarding technology commercialization, environmental emissions, economic viability, and commercial scaling. Observing the equipment's real-time operational procedures, the inspection team paid close attention to Debo's independently developed and commercialized complete equipment for biomass biochar-syngas co-productionand gasification-to-hydrogen. They fully recognized the company's practical exploration in leveraging Anhui's rich agricultural and forestry resources to deeply cultivate the biomass green and low-carbon sector.

Following the field inspection, government officials and enterprise leaders held a special symposium centered on "High-value Utilization of Agricultural & Forestry Waste Based on Biomass Gasification." Participants engaged in deep discussions regarding the medium- and long-term development plans for Anhui Province's green and low-carbon industries.
At the symposium, experts and officials from the Department of Ecology and Environment of Anhui Province, the Special Industry Task force, and the Anhui Provincial Academy of Environmental Science interpreted provincial biomass energy support policies and cross-regional industrial synergy guidelines in light of the province's ecological protection and new energy industry layouts.Officials from the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Hefei City, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Tongling City and the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Tongling City exchanged perspectives on regional biomass industry demand and local deployment challenges based on their respective agricultural and forestry resource profiles. Representatives from Anhui Molyfor shared industry practices concerning waste procurement and storage and supply chain integration.
The participating parties exchanged ideas and built consensus around four core agendas:
• Industrial Scaling: Formulating a scalable development blueprint for comprehensive biomass resource utilization across Anhui Province.
• Policy Safeguards: Accelerating the local implementation of provincial green and low-carbon industry policies and securing targeted policy support for corporate technical projects.
•Collaborative R&D: Establishing a collaborative innovation and joint industry-university-research mechanism for cutting-edge biomass biochar-syngas co-production and gasification-to-hydrogen technologies.
• Cross-Regional Synergy: Developing cross-regional resource allocation and joint project construction models between Hefei and Tongling for agricultural and forestry waste management.
The symposium concluded with a commitment to utilize this inspection and exchange as a bridge for establishing a regular government-enterprise and cross-regional industrial communication platform. Moving forward, stakeholders will: (1)continuously scale up the demonstration and deployment of biomass green low-carbon technologies, building a provincial benchmark project based on the Debo Yongfeng Biochar-Syngas Co-Production and Hydrogen Production Demonstration Base; and (2)coordinate and integrate agricultural and forestry waste resources, scientific R&D, and industrial policy resources across the province to bridge R&D, project implementation, and commercial application. This will continuously expand Anhui's specialized biomass energy industrial cluster, supporting the green transition of the province's energy structure through advanced biomass conversion technology and steadily driving the realization of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
