The President of the South African Academy of Science Paid a Vsited to Debo for An Inspection & Discussion about the Prospects of Biomass Gasification Development in Africa
On November 26, 2025, Mr. Thokozani Majozi, President and Academician of the South African Academy of Science paid a visited to Hefei Debo Bioenergy Technology Co., Ltd., accompanied by Dean Liu Guangqing and Professor Dai Jianjun of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and Professor Li Zhiwei of Hefei University of Technology. The visit focused on in-depth inspection and technical exchange regarding comprehensive utilization technology of biomass gasification. The aim was to explore the potential of promoting sustainable energy development and its application prospects in South Africa and even across the entire African continent.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in a lively discussion on efficient, clean, and high-value utilization pathways for biomass resources, technical and economic feasibility, and solutions adapted to different regional characteristics. Mr. Thokozani Majozi highly praised Hefei Debo's achievements in the field of biomass gasification. He stated that Africa possesses abundant biomass resources and faces continuously growing energy demands, while also confronting the challenges of energy transition and climate change. The biomass gasification technolohgy for poly-generation demonstrated by Debo can achieve comprehensive resource utilization and enhance energy self-sufficiency; the biomass gasification technology coupling with coal-fired power plant provides a feasible path for low-carbon transformation of existing energy facilities; and the biomass gasification green chemical industry direction helps promote the green transformation of the industrial sector. These technological solutions are highly suitable for the resource endowments and development needs of South Africa and other African regions, showcasing broad development prospects.
Dean Liu Guangqing of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Professor Li Zhiwei of Hefei University of Technology also expressed their willingness to actively build bridges for international industry-academia-research cooperation, promoting the sharing and collaboration of advanced green technologies, including biomass energy, globally.
