Focusing on green transformation and seeking a new chapter in carbon neutrality together

On April 9th, 2024, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in China successfully held the China Denmark Shipping Decarbonization Summit and Energy Roundtable Conference in Shanghai. This summit focuses on green transformation in the fields of renewable energy, maritime and environmental protection, aiming to strengthen and deepen cooperation between China and Denmark, and jointly explore feasible paths to achieve carbon neutrality goals.

Zhang Shoujun, Chairman of Hefei Debo Bioenergy Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to attend this summit. With rich industry experience, in-depth industrial application practice, and forward-looking strategic thinking, the conference has injected more industry wisdom and innovative vitality. Chairman Zhang Shoujun and representatives of enterprises and research institutions in the decarbonization energy supply chain of China and Denmark had in-depth exchanges to jointly explore key issues such as optimizing investment and reducing the production cost of green methanol, providing strong support for achieving green shipping and carbon neutrality goals.

Chairman Zhang Shoujun proposed the following suggestions at the roundtable meeting on the preparation of green methanol from biomass gasification: 1. Reducing the pre-treatment cost of biomass raw materials, adapting to multiple raw materials, high moisture content, simple crushing, and moderate scale are the key to reducing the cost of green methanol; 2. Select mature biomass gasification equipment that has undergone small-scale, pilot, and industrial operation to ensure the safe and stable operation of the project; 3. The treatment of tar and methane in gasification gas is crucial to reduce the difficulty of post conversion synthesis; 4. Whether to supplement green hydrogen depends on the cost of green hydrogen; 5. The landing location should be in a chemical park that is relatively rich in biomass raw materials, close to the port, and convenient for the entry and exit of raw materials and products.

The successful hosting of this summit not only showcases the achievements of cooperation between China and Denmark in the fields of green energy and shipping, but also injects new impetus into the sustainable development of the global shipping industry, jointly opening a new chapter of carbon neutrality.
