China Development Network reports: The world's first set of 150,000 ton biomass gasification to produce green methanol project has signed a contract in Ruichang City, Jiujiang.
China Development Network reported that on February 2nd, 2024, Hefei Debo Bioenergy Technology Co., Ltd. officially signed a contract with the government of Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province, launching the world's first set of 150,000 ton biomass gasification to produce green methanol project.
The key equipment of the project is independently developed by Hefei Debo. After production, it can consume over 400,000 tons of agricultural and forestry waste annually, producing green methanol products and green silica. Expected annual comprehensive output value is 1 billion yuan.
Jianchun Jiang, an academician of the CAE Member, Rui Xiao, dean of the School of Energy and Environment of Southeast University, experts and leaders from Three Gorges Green Hydrogen Energy Technology Branch, Zheneng Aerospace Hydrogen Energy Company and Xinding Capital participated in the project review and jointly witnessed the signing ceremony.
Jiang Jianchun highly praised the landing of the world's first 150,000 ton biomass gasification to produce green methanol project. He stated that the implementation of this project is an important event in the field of green methanol both domestically and internationally, and has profound significance in promoting local economic green development and participating in energy structure transformation.
It is reported that green methanol has the characteristics of high efficiency, easy transportation, and renewability. In addition to being used as a chemical raw material, it is a practical and feasible new way of hydrogen storage and energy storage in the energy field, and has great potential in fuel substitution in transportation.
Taking maritime transportation as an example, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set a clear timeline for global ship carbon emissions. Currently, the industry believes that methanol fueled ships are more representative of future trends. In the field of container shipping, liner companies such as Maersk and COSCO Shipping have already ordered methanol fuel powered ships, and Maersk's first large methanol powered ship, Laura Maersk, has been put into operation.
However, at the same time, the maritime sector also faces the problem of future methanol fuel supply.
As a leader in domestic biomass gasification technology, Hefei Debo has been deeply involved in biomass thermal conversion research and application for nearly 20 years. It is a high-tech enterprise in bioenergy that integrates research and development, production, sales, and operation. It has successfully constructed and operated more than 200 biomass gasification projects worldwide.
Among them, rich technical and commercial experience has been accumulated in the fields of biomass gasification to synthesize green methanol, natural gas, and hydrogen production, and a sound intellectual property protection system has been established.
Currently, Hefei Debo has closely cooperated with internationally renowned shipping companies such as Maersk to jointly promote the global green methanol industrialization process. These collaborations not only showcase the continuous innovation of China's green energy technology, but also connect the forefront pulse of Jiangxi Ruichang and international green shipping.
